Prunus lusitanica 'Angustifolia' (Multi-stem, Parachute-Shaped)
Common name: Narrow Portuguese Laurel
An elegant, multi-stemmed evergreen tree with a naturally architectural form, trained into a parachute-shaped canopy. The slender stems rise cleanly from the base and support a broad, flattened head of glossy, dark green foliage. This refined form provides a striking combination of structure and softness, perfect for contemporary or formal gardens.
Fragrant white flower spikes appear in early summer, followed by red fruits that mature to black. The narrow-leaved variety ('Angustifolia') offers a neater, more compact appearance than the species, making it ideal for use where space is limited but vertical and overhead interest is desired.
Thrives in full sun to full shade and tolerates a wide range of soils, including clay and chalk. Hardy, low maintenance, and perfect for screening, garden focal points, or softening architecture.
Ultimate height and spread:
3–4m high × 2–3m wide (canopy) in 10–15 years
Position: Sun or shade
Soil type: Moist but well-drained; tolerates most soil types
Suitable for: Architectural planting, screening, courtyards, multi-stem features, pleached alternatives
Does the height include the pot?
No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description
