Ceanothus ‘Blue Sapphire’ – Deep Blue Blooms on a Compact Evergreen
Ceanothus ‘Blue Sapphire’ is a beautifully compact evergreen shrub known for its dense, dark, glossy foliage and its spectacular display of deep sapphire-blue flowers in late spring. Small but incredibly impactful, it forms a neat, spreading mound that fits effortlessly into borders, rock gardens, and modern low-maintenance schemes.
When flowering season arrives, the plant becomes smothered in intensely rich blue clusters, creating a dramatic contrast against its almost black-green leaves. Bees and other pollinators love the nectar-rich blooms, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly planting.
Drought tolerant once established and naturally tidy in habit, Ceanothus ‘Blue Sapphire’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Its evergreen form provides dependable structure throughout the year, whether used as a feature plant, groundcover, or in mass planting to create a carpet of colour.
Resilient, decorative, and effortlessly stylish, this is one of the most versatile small Ceanothus varieties — a brilliant way to bring intense blue flowers and compact evergreen beauty into any garden.
