Ceanothus ‘Blue Mound’ – A Compact Evergreen Cloud of Blue
Ceanothus ‘Blue Mound’ is a wonderfully neat, compact evergreen shrub that forms a dense, rounded mound of glossy dark green foliage. In late spring, the plant becomes smothered in soft powder-blue flowers, creating a cloud-like effect that lifts any sunny border.
The flower clusters sit beautifully against the deep foliage, offering a striking contrast that draws the eye without overwhelming surrounding plants. Bees and pollinators flock to the nectar-rich blooms, making this variety as wildlife-friendly as it is decorative.
Naturally tidy in habit and tolerant of dry, poor soils once established, Ceanothus ‘Blue Mound’ is perfect for gardeners wanting structure with minimal effort. Its evergreen mound provides dependable form all year round, whether used as a standalone feature, in low mixed planting, or to soften slopes and banks.
Compact, colourful, and incredibly reliable, ‘Blue Mound’ brings a soft, calming tone of blue to the garden each spring while delivering year-round texture and structure.
