Cherry Laurel ‘Caucasica’ – Upright Evergreen Hedging for Dense Screening
Cherry Laurel ‘Caucasica’ is a strong, upright-growing evergreen shrub, widely regarded as one of the best varieties for tall, dense hedging. Its large, glossy dark green leaves create a thick canopy that provides reliable year-round privacy and wind protection.
Compared to broader laurel types, ‘Caucasica’ has a more upright and uniform growth habit, making it particularly suited to structured boundary planting and formal hedges. It establishes quickly and forms a substantial screen in a relatively short time.
In spring, upright clusters of small white flowers appear above the foliage, lightly scented and attractive to pollinators. These may be followed by dark berries in autumn, offering seasonal interest and supporting birdlife.
Highly adaptable, this variety thrives in full sun or deep shade and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions once established. It responds well to regular trimming, allowing you to maintain a neat, compact hedge or a taller privacy screen.
Hardy, fast-growing, and low maintenance, Cherry Laurel ‘Caucasica’ is one of the most dependable evergreen hedging choices for UK gardens.
