A cheerful compact forsythia that heralds spring with an abundance of brilliant golden-yellow flowers, bringing sunshine to gardens when it's most welcome.
In early spring, bare branches become smothered in bright yellow bell-shaped flowers, creating a dazzling display. Fresh green leaves emerge as flowers fade, providing a lush backdrop through summer before turning soft yellow in autumn.
Excellent in mixed borders, as informal hedging, or in containers. Ideal for adding early spring colour to smaller gardens, courtyards, or as part of a spring-flowering shrub collection.
Plant in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade; more flowers in sunnier positions. Tolerates most soil types including chalk. Prune immediately after flowering, removing oldest stems at the base to encourage new growth. Water during dry spells until established.
Stunning with early spring bulbs such as Narcissus and Muscari, and underplanted with Pulmonaria or Primula. Combines well with Ribes sanguineum and early-flowering Spiraea.
A reliable and vibrant shrub that brings joyful golden colour to the early spring garden.
