Betula also known as Himalayan Birch - can be a deciduous tree or shrubs, usually colouring well in autumn and often with striking white, pink, or peeling brown bark; separate male and female catkins open before or with the leaves in spring.

Birch trees thrive in full sun and require moist but well-drained soil. In a garden setting it is advised to add a high quality fertiliser when planting such as a tree and shrub compost.

Betula Utilis Jacquemontii also known and Himalayan Birch is the very popular deciduous garden tree. Has an attractive natural, elegant shape. Known for its icy- white peeling bark that can be truely appreciated once the foliage falls in autumn. Long yellow-brown catkins in spring which feeds the early rising insects.

With Birch being one of the most popular these are perfect for all garden sizes, ideally they should not be hidden at the back of the border as they are too good!! These even look amazing when planted in  groves to make a white forest!

Himalayan Birch are a trouble free variety that can tolerate a range fo soil conditions including clay and sand, in  sun or partial shade. They don't reuire pruning but should you need to do a tidy up thsi should be done when the tree is dormant in winter Height 8m or more without pruning.
