Hydrangea petiolaris – The Elegant Climbing Hydrangea with Summer Blooms
Hydrangea petiolaris, commonly known as climbing hydrangea, is a robust and vigorous deciduous climber admired for its large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves and stunning flat-topped clusters of creamy white flowers in early to mid-summer. These lacecap-like blooms add delicate texture and brightness to shaded or partially shaded garden walls, fences, and pergolas.
This climber’s aerial rootlets allow it to cling firmly to vertical surfaces, making it an excellent choice for adding lush greenery and seasonal interest where space is limited. Its slow-to-moderate growth rate means it establishes steadily, rewarding gardeners with a dramatic floral display and attractive foliage year after year.
