Avoid permanently waterlogged areas. On heavy ground, prepare a wide planting area and loosen the surrounding soil so water can drain and new roots can extend beyond the original planting trench.
Cherry Laurel also performs well in exposed positions once established, although newly planted hedging may require temporary support.

Never allow the exposed roots to dry out. Keep them covered and moist until planting. If planting must be delayed, temporarily heel the plants into loose soil.
