Styrax japonicus ‘June Snow’ – A Delicate Cascade of Summer Blooms
Styrax japonicus ‘June Snow’ is a beautifully refined deciduous tree prized for its stunning display of fragrant, pure white, bell-shaped flowers that appear in late spring to early summer. These elegant blooms hang delicately from slender branches, creating the impression of a gentle snowfall, hence the cultivar name ‘June Snow’.
The tree forms a neat, rounded canopy of fresh green leaves that provide a light, airy texture throughout the growing season. As the leaves emerge, they offer a soft backdrop to the floral cascade, enhancing the tree’s graceful appearance.
With a modest mature height, typically around 4-6 metres, ‘June Snow’ suits smaller gardens, patios, or as a specimen in mixed borders where its seasonal interest can be appreciated up close. The subtle fragrance of its blooms adds to its appeal, attracting bees and other pollinators, while the smooth, grey bark lends additional winter interest.
