Phormium 'Blondie' – Compact Elegance with Creamy Striped Foliage and Graceful Form
Phormium 'Blondie' is a compact, evergreen New Zealand Flax variety celebrated for its arching, strap-like leaves with creamy-yellow central stripes flanked by olive-green margins. This low-growing cultivar offers an elegant, refined look with soft, weeping foliage that adds movement, texture, and color contrast to any garden design. Perfect for small spaces, borders, or containers, 'Blondie' brings a touch of sophistication with minimal care.
Seasonal Beauty & Growth
Spring:
Fresh growth emerges with vibrant variegation, showcasing buttery-yellow centers and soft green edges. The plant quickly forms neat, arching tufts that brighten up early-season borders.
Summer:
The foliage retains its bold variegation in the heat, adding year-round color and a graceful, cascading form. Though rarely flowering, older plants may occasionally produce tall reddish flower spikes in summer.
Autumn:
As the growing season slows, 'Blondie' continues to shine with clean foliage and consistent form. Its variegated leaves reflect warm autumn light, enhancing seasonal palettes.
Winter:
Evergreen in mild climates, 'Blondie' holds its shape and color beautifully through winter, offering structure and brightness in cold-season beds or container displays.
