Cornus sanguinea ‘Midwinter Fire’ – Winter Glow in the Garden
Cornus sanguinea ‘Midwinter Fire’ is a stunning dogwood, grown for its vibrant stems that blaze orange, red, and yellow through winter. The effect is most dramatic in low sunlight, where the stems appear to glow against bare ground or frost.
In summer, the shrub bears soft green leaves and creamy-white flowers, followed by dark berries. As autumn arrives, the foliage turns orange and red before dropping, allowing the colourful winter stems to take centre stage.
With its bushy, spreading habit, ‘Midwinter Fire’ is perfect for winter borders, wildlife gardens, and naturalistic planting schemes.
