View full detailsAzaleas are part of the Rhododendron family and they are generally fully hardy. Deciduous Azaleas are medium size shrubs with oblong to lance-shaped leaves and funnel shaped, showy flowers that open in late spring and summer.
They are ideal for planting in a woodland garden. Perfect option for attracting butterflies, bees and insects into the garden. They are also deer resistant
Azaleas are shallow rooted and require acidic soil, if you don’t have this then simply plant in ericaceous compost. In exposed gardens plants them in a sheltered site away from cold winds.
Prune Azaleas after they have finished flowering, remove any dead, damaged or diseased branches.
In spring use a good ericaceous fertiliser do not do this after July 1 as it may delay dormancy leading to winter damage
