Polemonium ‘Stairway to Heaven’ – Variegated Jacob’s Ladder with Spring Interest
Polemonium ‘Stairway to Heaven’ is an elegant and eye-catching perennial, prized for its beautifully variegated foliage and gentle spring flowers. Emerging in spring, the finely divided leaves are edged in creamy white and often flushed with soft pink, creating a luminous effect that brightens borders and shaded areas.
In late spring to early summer, slender stems rise above the foliage, carrying clusters of soft lavender-blue flowers. These delicate blooms hover lightly above the plant, adding height and movement while attracting bees and other pollinators to the garden.
Compact and well-mannered, ‘Stairway to Heaven’ works beautifully at the front of borders, in woodland-style planting, or in containers where its detailed foliage can be appreciated up close. It blends effortlessly with shade-tolerant perennials and provides long-lasting interest even after flowering has finished.
Thriving in partial shade and moist, well-drained soil, this variety is reliable, fully hardy, and easy to care for. Its refined habit and changing foliage colour make it a standout choice for gardeners looking to add subtle contrast and seasonal interest.
