Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Variegata’ – Bright Variegated Evergreen for Structure and Contrast
Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Variegata’ is a striking evergreen shrub, valued for its fine-textured foliage and soft variegation. The small, wavy-edged leaves are mid-green with creamy-white margins, creating a light, airy effect that brightens planting schemes throughout the year.
Its naturally bushy, upright habit forms a dense structure, making it well suited to hedging, screening, or use as a feature shrub in borders. The variegated foliage provides contrast against darker evergreens and works particularly well in both contemporary and coastal-style gardens.
Fast growing and easy to shape, it responds well to trimming and can be maintained as a neat hedge or allowed to develop a softer, more natural form.
Best grown in a sunny, sheltered position, it prefers free-draining soil and benefits from protection against cold winds and severe frost. In milder areas of the UK, it performs reliably and provides year-round interest.
Bright, versatile, and low maintenance, Pittosporum ‘Variegata’ is an excellent choice for adding structure, colour, and contrast to the garden.
