Photinia ‘Carré Rouge’ – Compact Red Photinia with Intense Colour
Photinia ‘Carré Rouge’ is a refined and compact variety of Photinia, prized for its exceptionally bright red new growth and naturally dense habit. The young leaves emerge a vivid, glowing red—often more intense and longer-lasting than traditional ‘Red Robin’—before maturing to a deep, glossy green.
Its compact, upright growth makes it particularly well suited to formal hedging and smaller gardens, where space is more limited but strong colour impact is still desired. The dense foliage forms a neat, structured appearance that can be easily maintained with regular trimming.
In spring, clusters of small white flowers may appear, adding an extra layer of seasonal interest and attracting pollinators.
Ideal for hedging, screening, or feature planting, ‘Carré Rouge’ provides year-round structure combined with repeated flushes of vibrant red growth, especially when lightly pruned.
Thriving in sun or partial shade, it prefers well-drained soil and benefits from a sheltered position to protect young growth from harsh winds.
Bold, compact, and colourful, Photinia ‘Carré Rouge’ is an excellent choice for adding structure and striking seasonal contrast to the garden.
