Deutzia ‘Pride of Rochester’ – Elegant Spring Flowering Shrub with Arching Blooms
Deutzia ‘Pride of Rochester’ is a graceful and free-flowering deciduous shrub, producing masses of double white flowers delicately flushed with soft pink in late spring to early summer. The blooms are borne along gently arching branches, creating a cascading effect that brings movement and softness to borders.
The profusion of flowers almost covers the stems at peak flowering, making this variety a standout feature in the spring garden. Its fresh green foliage provides a neat backdrop throughout the growing season, maintaining structure after flowering has finished.
With its naturally arching habit, ‘Pride of Rochester’ works beautifully in mixed borders, cottage gardens, and informal hedging. It pairs particularly well with other spring and early summer shrubs, helping to bridge the seasonal transition.
Hardy and easy to grow, this deutzia thrives in full sun or partial shade and adapts well to most well-drained soils. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain its shape and encourages strong flowering the following year.
Elegant, reliable, and generously flowering, Deutzia ‘Pride of Rochester’ is an excellent choice for adding soft seasonal beauty to UK gardens.
