Fargesia nitida ‘Black Pearl’ – Elegant Black-Stem Bamboo for Refined Screening
Fargesia nitida ‘Black Pearl’ is a striking and elegant clump-forming bamboo, prized for its distinctive dark purple to near-black canes and fine, graceful foliage. Unlike running bamboos, it forms a neat, non-invasive clump, making it a practical and manageable choice for modern gardens and boundary planting.
The slender, arching canes are clothed in masses of narrow green leaves, creating a soft, flowing texture that moves gently in the breeze. As the canes mature and darken, they provide beautiful contrast against the foliage, adding depth and visual interest throughout the year.
Perfect for screening, ‘Black Pearl’ forms a dense yet airy barrier that offers privacy without heaviness. It thrives in sun or partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil, performing especially well in sheltered positions or woodland-style planting schemes.
Evergreen, hardy, and easy to maintain, it requires little care beyond occasional thinning of older canes to keep the plant looking fresh and balanced.
Graceful, distinctive, and non-invasive, Fargesia ‘Black Pearl’ is an excellent choice for adding height, movement, and subtle drama to the garden.
