From Beech

Fagus sylvatica – Full Standard Beech Tree (10–12cm Girth)

Fagus sylvatica, the native European Beech, is one of the most majestic and versatile trees for the British landscape. Supplied as a full standard with a 10–12cm girth stem, it offers immediate presence and develops into a beautiful specimen tree with a broad, elegant canopy.

The fresh green leaves emerge in spring with a delicate, almost translucent appearance before maturing into a rich green canopy throughout summer. In autumn, the foliage transforms into stunning shades of copper, bronze, gold, and amber, creating a spectacular seasonal display before falling. Young trees often retain some of their copper leaves through winter, adding further seasonal interest.

Beech is renowned for its smooth silver-grey bark, which becomes increasingly attractive as the tree matures. Combined with its graceful branching structure, it provides year-round architectural beauty even when dormant.

Its naturally symmetrical habit makes it ideal for avenues, parkland planting, large gardens, and formal landscapes. Hardy, long-lived, and adaptable, it thrives in a wide range of soil conditions and is one of the finest specimen trees available for British gardens.
