Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is a popular evergreen shrub known for its glossy, dark green leaves and dense growth. It is ideal for creating thick, privacy-providing hedges or as an attractive feature plant in the garden.

Cherry Laurel makes excellent hedges due to its rapid growth and dense foliage, offering effective screening. It is low maintenance and quickly forms a lush barrier with minimal effort.

Cherry Laurel Hedging - Cherry Laurel is a robust shrub with broad, glossy leaves that create a dense, evergreen screen. It’s perfect for tall, lush hedges that provide privacy and protection.

Cherry Laurel thrives in moist, well-drained soil and can be planted in both full sun and partial shade. We always cut back by a third as well to help them get away. If you plant them in wet slop then kiss your money goodbye, they like free-draining soil while they are getting established.

They need a little room to develop and can be pruned anytime. Feed twice a year to keep those leaves looking luxurious. They do not like being waterlogged. They grow anywhere except chalk.

Cherry Laurel, or Prunus laurocerasus, is an evergreen hedge known for its dense, glossy dark green foliage. With rapid growth, lush coverage, and minimal maintenance needs, Cherry Laurel is an excellent choice for a year-round hedge that enhances any garden.

Where Should I Site My Cherry Laurel Hedging?

Spring and autumn are ideal planting times, although pot-grown laurels can be planted year-round. To ease the watering burden during hot weather, consider using a leaky hose. When planting, dig a hole both deep and wide enough to accommodate the root ball, ensuring the root collar (where the trunk meets the roots) remains above the soil level. Fill the hole with soil and gently tamp it down to eliminate air pockets.

Cherry Laurels are adaptable to a variety of conditions, including full sun or partial shade and different soil types, making them suitable for many garden settings.

Watering

Water the plant thoroughly to settle the soil and ensure the roots receive adequate moisture. Applying a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base will help regulate soil temperature and support healthy growth.

While Cherry Laurels are hardy, regular watering is essential during their first few years, especially during dry periods. Water once a week and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases.

Growth & Pruning

Cherry Laurels can grow up to 60 cm per year, making them a fast-growing option for quickly creating a privacy hedge. Due to their rapid growth, they may require trimming several times a year. Trim back to maintain the desired shape and size using sharp, clean shears, and avoid removing more than one-third of the plant's growth each year to ensure healthy development.

No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description

How long does delivery take?

Where will you leave my plants?

We will leave your order at the front of your property, Parcelforce may
leave your items in a safe place if you let us know, Pallet couriers
will require a flat hard surface to deliver to, no gravel or soil, a
driveway or parking spot would be best. Most importantly Deliveries by
pallet courier will require access for a large truck (bin lorry sized)
to get near the delivery point. Deliveries sent on our own transport may come in a small van or larger truck.
