Large green leaves cover the ground in dry shade and produce bright blue flowers sporadically over the year but mainly in spring.
Vinca or Periwinkle are slender stemmed evergreen shrubs or perennials which have simple paired leaves and colourful five pettaled flowers.
Vinca are very easy to grow and enjoy dry soil and full sunlight; this will increase flowering. Vinca do not need pruning but they can be cut back occasionally. They can be trimmed in early Spring and should flower again in the same year.
Vinca Major have larger glossy green leaves. Larger blue flowers and is great ground cover for under bushes and shaded dry areas.They are spreading plants which only reach around 20cm in height so are called the greater periwinkle
