Imperata or Japanese Blood Grass
Imperata are deciduous grasses which are also known as cogon grass or Japanese blood grass. They are grown for their beautiful distinctive deep red foliage with narrow silvery flower panicles in late summer.

How to Grow and Look After you Imperata
They are best planted in a sheltered site in either full sun or partial shade. They like moist well drained soil.
In late winter / early spring cut back he grass to ground level. If you are in a cold and exposed area then they will need mulching over in the winter to protect them.
If you wish to propagate then you can divide the plants in spring.
