Gaultheria or Checkerberry
Gaultheria procembens or checkerberry are evergreen shrubs which produce elliptic, glossy, dark green leaves. These leaves have a strong wintergreen scent when crushed. Urn shaped flowers are produced in pink or white during the summer. These flowers grow singularly or in racemes and are followed by scarlet red fruits which tend to last until the Spring.

How to Grow and Look After your Gaultheria
They grow well in acidic soil in partial shade and do not require regular pruning, but they should be dead-headed after flowering.
