Cordyline or Cabbage Palm

Cordyline is a beautiful evergreen palm like shrub, can also be called cabbage palm or exotic palms. They have long thin leaves that can be shades of green, bronze, pinks and purples. Sparsely bearing pretty fragrant cup shape flowers in summer, followed by round berries, a very attractive plant that can be used in beddings and containers, they look stunning as a feature plant.

Where to Site Your Cordyline

These are best plant in sheltered positions of the garden. They are great as a stand-alone shrub or can be planted in a shrub border. Where they will add height and a Mediterranean feel to the garden with the long strap like foliage.

How to Grow and Look After you Cordyline

Cabbage palms are a very easy plant to grow, they will reach around 3-10 meters tall and 1-4 meters wide, little pruning is required, all you need to do is just remove dead leaves, with a sharp pair of scissors or secateurs to prevent any tugging as this will cause the plant to rock in any wind conditions and spent flowers

You will need to plant in a sunny sheltered position

Cordyline plants will also grow well indoors to, making a brilliant conservatory plant.
