Evergreen unusual oak with deep fissured bark used in cork making. Dark green foliage with a silver felt underneath, chunky acorns in autumn and bushy nature make this an interesting plant. They flower for most of the year, which means that the acorns are visible most of the year.
The cork can be harvested once every 7 years and only when the the girth of stem is 60cm+, once it has been harvested the stem is a firey red.
Despite looking like it belongs in the Med it is perfectly suited to British winters.
Very slow growing, making it a low maintainence screening plant.
