Pseudosasa - arrow bamboo - produce dense thickets of hollow canes they are very attractive and can be used for all sorts of things. With them producing such a dense shrub they are ideal for blocking out windy spots, hedging and screening out any unwanted views. Pseudosasa are wind and shade tolerant. Pseudosasa Japonica are a fast growing bamboo with olive green canes when young maturing to pale beige with contrasting dark green, oblong leaves, height can reach up to 6-8m. To grow arrow bamboos they want fertile, but well drained soil and can take sun or partial. To maintain Pseudosasa's remove any unwanted, dead or damaged branches and you can divide them.
