Grow in most soils and sun or part shade. They require no pruning and can be left to grow on their own as they are slow growing, they tend to be classed as dwarf conifers.
Picea Glauca Echiniformis - white spruce - dwarf conifer with a dense rounded habit or grey green needles. Height can reach 50cm.
