Cosmos are famously known as chocolate plants as some of the varieties have heavenly smells of chocolate. They have simple green leaves and in the summer they produce dainty daisy like flowers on tall stems that look very attractive when the wind blows. To get the best out of these, dead head throughout as it encourages them to flower more. They prefer to be planted in as much sunlight as possible as this makes the fragrant stronger and nice soil, when it comes to winter protect with a bark mulch. The name cosmos is derived from from the greeks meaning a balanced universe.
