Anemone Japonica
Anemone or Windflowers
Anemone, Japanese anemone or windflower.
There is no other plant that puts on a late display like Japanese Anemones. Masses of pretty coloured flowers on slender stems cover the top of the usually bright green foliage they flower from late July through to the frosts.
They are called windflower because the breeze blows open the flowers and then blows the petals away after they are finished. They are hugely popular, one of our best sellers and we always sell out early...
Where to Site Your Anemone
These are perfect for creating the cottage garden theme or planting as part of a mixed border.
How to Grow and Look after Your Anemone
They are easy to grow and thrive best as under planting perennials as in very hot weather they tend to scorch a little.
They grow in any soil if it is not either end of the moisture spectrum.
Keep the roots mulched over as they don’t like to dry out.
