Echinops or Globe Thistle
The name is taken from the greek word Enkinos meaning hedgehog. This is due to the deeply cut, spikey leaves, in late summer it has the most unusual globe like flowers produced on tall slender stems.
Where to Site Your Echinops
Great for complimenting cottage gardens and a wonderful addition to wildlife gardens as they attract lots of bees and butterflies. The flowers can also be used in dried arrangements.
How to Grow and Look after Your Echinops
They are very easy to grow and do extremely well in poor soils in sun or part shade. Needs moisture during its growing season but drought tolerant once established.
