Cedrus - cedar - are large evergreen conifers with needle like leaves spiral shoots that have cones that break up and release seeds whilst still attached to the tree. Some species have a spreading habit or an upright habbit.
Cedrus atlantica glauca pendula - is a beautiful weeping conifer with silvery blue foliage that is even brighter in spring. The atlas cedars did originate from the atlas mountains in Morocco and Algeria. Cedrus can grow up to12 meters tall and 8 meters wide however will need a lot of space to reach its full potential and this can take 50 years and more. Cedar are very hardy and best used as low maintance tree or a feature conifer.
Cedars grow well in moist well drained soil and sun or shade.
