Carpinus B. Pleached Standard 14-16cm Girth
Carpinus are deciduous native trees that bears oval, prominently veined, dark green leaves that turn yellow and orange in autumn, it does hold onto some of the golden brown foliage through the winter, but as the new leaves come through in spring they will fall off.
Carpinus Betulus Fastigiata has a flame shaped crown, keeping it fairly tight makes quite an architectural feature. To grow Carpinus they do well in sun or part shade in clay, chalk sand or loam soils as long as they are moist and well drained. They can be pruned in late winter to early spring.
