Carpinus are deciduous native trees that bears oval, prominently veined, dark green leaves that turn yellow and orange in autumn, it does hold onto some of the golden brown foliage through the winter, but as the new leaves come through in spring they will fall off.
Carpinus B. Rockhampton Red is a stunning variety that is grown for its beautiful display of autumn foliage colours of reds and oranges. Leaves emerge a bright fresh green up until autumn. Green catkins in spring followed by winged nuts. For best autumn colour plant in full sun.
A light prune in summer will encourage the foliage to remain on the branches through the winter months
