Aucuba - spotted laurels are evergreen shrubs cultivated for their bold alternate leaves. Females bear large red fruits and are extremely hardy.

Aucubas can be pruned to remove any out of place branches and if used as a hedging plant should be cut back well in Spring.
Aucuba Crotonifolia have dark green, glossy leathery leaves heavily mottled with yellow. In spring they bear small purple flowers. Ultimate height about 2.5 metres and spread 2.5 metres. Male.
