Company information and brief History After being born into Turf production our founder Steve Watmore started work full time for the family business, Sussex Turf Suppliers, in 1976. In the 1960's when Sussex Turf was formed the industry had a cowboy reputation run by people like the character Arthur Daily (remember his epitaph? He Dealt, He Diddled, He Died) Steve with his brother Mike, mother Janet and father Chris, helped pioneer turf production, from old sheep pastures cut with hand machines, to the first ever turf grown specifically for lawns. The whole industry, as it is now, with massive self propelled self stacking machines harvesting 2000 square metres an hour, owes a lot to the Watmore Family and it's strive for improvements.

 | In 1979, the family decided to re-locate to the North West. A large farm was bought and Turfland was formed. Soon becoming the biggest name in quality lawn turf in the country. In 1984, after massive success, Steve left the family business to start his own company Wild and Watmore Turf Farms. The name was later changed to trade as Grasslands and has been synonymous with quality turf, ever since. Steve is now joined by his 2 sons making three generations of experience and pedigree in the turf industry.
